Gregory Pinero
Greg Pinero is a Senior Software Engineer at Janelia Farm. Prior to joining Janelia, Greg founded and ran Blended Technologies, a software consulting company. Projects at Blended Technologies ranged from creating agent-based simulations for aiding third world development to designing software for managing powerline repairs from helicopters. Prior to that Greg worked in the financial industry developing high throughput software for managing Plainfield Asset Management's six billion dollar portfolio. Earlier in his career he worked for CreditXpert Inc. designing consumer credit risk scores using Artificial Neural Networks, Decision Trees, Genetic Programming and other Machine Learning techniques.
Greg has also developed and released multiple software projects. Some examples are Utility Mill, an online Python tool creator and Grocist, a barcode driven grocery list application. Greg is also actively involved in the Python programming language community through creating and improving open source libraries and writing instructional articles.
Greg received his MS in Computer Science from Johns Hopkins University in 2007 and his BA in Economics from the University of Connecticut in 2002.
