Probing the molecular and cellular basis of developmental morphogenesis.
Our research aims to understand the fundamental molecular and cellular principles underlying tissue and organ morphogenesis during animal development. To achieve this goal, we are focusing on genetically tractable arthropod species that satisfy a number of appealing biological and technical requirements.
Our research benefits enormously from longstanding as well as new collaborative interactions with several research groups, including the Keller and Stern groups at JRC, the Tomancak group at MPI-CBG (Dresden, Germany), the Akam group at University of Cambridge (UK), the Averof group at IGFL (Lyon, France), the Aboobaker group at the University of Oxford (UK), the Patel group at UC Berkeley, and the Scholtz/Wolff group at Humboldt University (Berlin, Germany).
