THE CAMPUS
The Janelia campus was designed to support our vibrant scientific community. On campus you will find flexible and intuitive laboratory and office space, social spaces where you can both build relationships and relax, and amenities that make both life and work easier, including on-campus housing and transportation to the DC metro area.
Campus Amenities
Shuttle and Bus Service
Janelia provides a free shuttle to and from Arlington, Virginia with easy access to the Silver and Orange Metro lines and Washington, DC.
You can also get to Janelia via the Loudoun Country Transit Wiehle Express bus. This bus provides frequent weekday access to the Wiehle-Reston East Metro Station on the Silver line. It is free for Janelia staff and visitors.
Social Spaces & Dining
The heart of campus, our pub, hums with activity as it welcomes employees and their families for casual dinners, in-depth philosophical discussions over coffee or beer, or movies in the adjacent theater.
Good food and large tables in the campus dining room promote social dining, while the library and art gallery provide quieter spaces for work or contemplation.
Housing
Many scientists and their families choose to live on campus. From studio apartments to four-bedrooms townhomes, we offer a wide range of fully-furnished housing options.
We also accommodate visiting scientists and conference attendees in our comfortable 96-room guesthouse.
Fitness Center
Open 24 hours a day, the Fitness Center features a variety of cardio equipment, free weights, weight machines, and group classes. In addition, you can find jogging and hiking trails, sports courts, and a sports field on campus.
