Many scientists and their families choose to live on campus. A wide range of furnished housing options are available to Janelia employees, visiting scientists and students.

Conference attendees can stay in our 96-room Guest House.

Short-term Housing

On-campus housing is available for visiting scientists, students, and relocating employees.

Townhome accommodations are set up for shared housing situations; housemates will be assigned to you. Small families can be accommodated in a townhome based on availability and circumstance. Occupancy fees are competitive with local market prices.

  • Eligibility: Visiting scientists and students for the length of their stays. Relocating employees for up to six months.
  • Availability: Two-, three-, and four-bedroom townhomes. 
  • Features: En-suite baths, washer/dryer, basic cable television, internet and parking
  • Furnished: Yes. Linens and kitchen supplies are available for an additional fee.

Long-term Housing

On-campus apartments offer long-term housing options for Janelia scientists and their families. Apartment accommodations are set up for single, double and small family situations. Occupancy fees are competitive with local market prices.

  • Eligibility: Janelia employees (including operations staff and contractors)
  • Availability: Junior one-bedroom, one-bedroom, one-bedroom with den, two-bedroom apartments. 
  • Features: In-unit washer/dryer, basic cable television, internet, parking
  • Furnished: Yes. Linens and kitchen supplies are available for an additional fee.

  • Only service and support animals are permitted on Janelia’s campus.

  • Basic utilities (water, gas, electric, basic cable and internet) are included in the monthly occupancy fee.
