The New York Times featured the work of the Jayaraman Lab in a new ScienceTake video and accompanying article. Watch as a tethered fly walks on a ball in a virtual reality apparatus, allowing the researchers to pick up its neuronal activity with a microscope.
The researchers found a compass-shaped group of brain cells that allow the fly to keep track of where its body is going. They published their findings in Nature last month.
